AFROPOP: THE ULTIMATE CULTURAL EXCHANGE celebrates Africa's cultural and historical growth through six insightful films. These films, each introduced by acclaimed actor Idris Elba, explore the complex lives of contemporary Africans, both on the continent and abroad. The productions include an examination of the efforts of African AIDS activists, a profile of two young South African hip-hop disc jockeys, the touching story of one Cape Town boy's love for opera music and a look inside the blossoming Nigerian film industry.

After getting dumped by the girlfriend he never deserved, delusional piker Joe (Joe Benarick) and his estranged buddy Frank (Frank Aguirre) decide to take a trip to the neighboring town of Deer Beach-named for its annual deer orgy along the shore, according to Frank. But despite Frank's best efforts to heal Joe's broken heart in this execrable town inundated with surly front desk girls, slovenly maintenance men, and more than unbearable downtime, Joe can't shake the thought of his ex. She was smokin' hot, and it was so cute the way she'd get mad and stab him and all. Women are such a trip!

A socially awkward but highly enterprising teenager decides to acquire a "mail order best friend"; a sophisticated exchange student from France. Instead, he ends up importing his personal nightmare, a cologne-soaked, chain-smoking, sex-obsessed youth who quickly becomes the hero of his new community.

Lydia is in anguish over her breakup with Frank. Haunted, sleepless, and desperate, she agrees to a blind date set up by a friend. The man she meets, a handsome actor, is used to having women fall in love with him. Attracted by his intelligence and naive gamesmanship, Lydia enters into a deadly serious bargain with the 'professional liar' trying to seduce her: She do whatever he asks as he tries to make her fall in love with him. As they 'go through the motions' of being lovers, they interrogate their own frustrated desires and masochistic dynamic in witty and wounded dialogue. Perhaps history can repeat itself, but to what end?

Desperate to solve the seemingly irreconcilable problems in his marriage, Brian Tilghman seeks the help of a mysterious fixer.

As long as we don't realize that this is the world in which we truly live, not only does nothing in metaphysics make any sense, but no matter what we do, what methods we use, what systems we follow, we will not achieve what it is we truly want.
